Arkham Investigation

Arkham Investigations

Delve into the dark secrets of Arkham...

Welcome to my Arkham Investigations website, a plot-driven fan-based expansion rules for the excellent Arkham Horror game by Fantasy Flight Games.

Arkham Investigations is an attempt to bring plot-driven encounters, a deeper level of player cooperation, more fan-based content, and an exciting endgame sequence to the standard Arkham Horror game.

Initially, Arkham Investigations was hosted at a site here by Nephilim. However, the site had become inactive somewhat and the links for the various casebooks that I had written had become inactive and a crash of my hard drive erased the original files. However, with the help of amikezor from the Fantasy Flight Community forums, I was able to recover my casebooks. I quickly decided that my two original casebooks needed some editing and that perhaps a second site was in order. Thus this site was born.

Specifically, Arkham Investigations adds the following to the basic game:

  • Prescripted, plot-driven encounters in the style of an actual investigation.
  • Rules for allowing investigators to assist each other both in combat and during the investigation (and for allowing monsters to assist each other to kill the investigators).
  • An endgame sequence at the end of the game, regardless of how well the players do, to add a climax to the gameplay.
  • A framework that allows fans to easily create new content for the game.
  • A narrower focus on a particular Ancient One during gameplay by restricting monsters and encounters to those that make sense in relation to the Ancient One that is stirring. (Probably of interest only to Lovecraft Bibliophiles.)

In addition, several other play aids and expansions are available under the Navigation column.

How Do I Start?

First, you will need a copy of Arkham Horror to play this game. If you or someone you know does not have it, go buy it. It may seem a little pricey, but the production values (and fun value) is well worth the cost. Play it a few times to acquaint yourself with the rules, and then come back here.

(You do not need any of the expansions to play, but of course, added menace equals more fun!)

Once you are familiar with the rules of Arkham Horror, pop over to the rules section and download the main rules and token sheets.

Then, head over to the cases section to download one of the available cases to play. Print everything out, cut out the tokens and progress cards, and set off on a dark adventure of your own.
